Latchi 2012

We have spent, what could only be described as, the most relaxing and wonderful time in Latchi. We spent 4 days at a luxury hilltop villa, overlooking the bay/harbour and with a great view of the sunrise over the mountains and 2 days in Nicosia doing some more cultural things.

With my friend Sarah (a university girlfriend) and her boyfriend Andy over from England, we did what can only be described as a whistle stop tour of Cyprus, encompassing nearly every city and many many sights on offer into a super short space of time.

Latchi is possibly my favourite place on the island, the views are amazing, the town is slow and quiet which makes you feel totally relaxed and there is barely any of the tacky holiday sights like the old queen vic pub and pie and chips that I despise!

We spent most of the time at the villa, relaxing in our own private pool and took several trips down to the beach where Harry tried to play fisherman with his fishing pots and snorkelling gear, but unfortunately no fish wanted to be his friends this time.  We explored the Akamas Forest a little (not a lot due to a minor injury Sarah incurred the night before) and ate a lot of fresh fish. Harry even braved his first solo Cypriot bbq and produced some amazing souvlaki (pork kebab).

We even had time to spend a day at the beach in Ayia Napa, go up to the mountains for some nature and have lunch with YaYa.

I'll let the photographs do the rest of the talking.

holiday time.

I have waited all summer long for this week in mid September to arrive and here we are. While everyone in the office was coming and going on their holidays and I was stuck at my desk I felt regular pangs of jealously, but I think I get the last laugh as everyone's holiday blues sets in. I AM GOING ON HOLIDAY HA!

My friends arrived late last night and today we are off on a road trip to the other side of the island - to a place called Latchi. A teeny tiny fishing village with nothing but sea, forests and fish restaurants.

Magazine delivery

I think I've got used to living without my weekly trips to WH Smith for magazines. I miss not picking up my favourite publications but the thought of handing over almost €10 for a copy of Cosmopolitan or Vogue just brings me out in a cold sweat. So the one thing that is always at the top of my list when anyone comes over, is magazines.

And last week, Harrys cousin Katie was here on a flying visit (she is an air stewardess for BA) which meant one thing...MAGAZINES! And aside from my usual requests there were some extras thrown in that she picked up on the plane! Gotta love cousin Katie.

So this is how I am spending my Sunday afternoon.

August

I am not really sure where August came from, but suddenly its here and we are over half way through 2012 which kind of fills me with fear. I mean in a few months we will hit the 2 year mark - 2 years since we packed up and left London. I seriously can't believe how quickly the past 2 years have gone. It's crazy to think where we are now.

While we miss everyone, everyday, I know there is no other place we should be right now. Yesterday we spent the morning lounging in the sunshine at the pool. London really can't compete!

Sunday adventures

A few weeks ago, we took some days off and gave ourselves an extended weekend. So we decided to take a little trip. Sundays are usually my low key, low energy day; you know the washing has to be folded, the apartment tidied and the brain relaxed before Monday hits us at full force. But with a few extra days off, there is no Sunday night feeling in sight, just a tanned and tired English girl fresh from a day of rock climbing in Ayia Napa.
Ok so not technically rock climbing as you would think, I mean I am not really the sporting type. When I say rock climbing I mean more walking and clambering over rocks on the side of the bay in Ayia Napa.
Not just content to laze on my sun-lounger all day long, I opted to take advantage of my surroundings and take some snaps, a. to make you all insanely jealous of where we live and b. so this blog post would be a bit more visually pleasing.
When you think of Ayia Napa, you probably dont have the best thoughts. We have found a lovely little beach, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of clubbers paradise, where the sand is white, the water is a clear and everytime we go, I feel like I am on holiday.
I think I will let the photographs do the rest of the talking.

a birthday boy

Harry's birthday was a few weeks back and the big 25th birthday was pretty low key actually. I did buy his favourite cakes from the bakery, topped with candles and I got him so pretty awesome presents if I do say so myself.

Not only did I purchase D&G sunglasses to replace his well loved and falling apart Oakley's [from an amazing website in New Zealand which offers bargains on designer sunnies] but I also got him a print he had been lusting after - although to be honest the only reason I bought it was because it was pink!

And to top it off, I bought a hilarious card fit for someone who doesn't care for cards at all.
