blink and you'll miss it

It feels like 2 days have passed since my last blog post but in reality it has been nearly 2 months. It feels like time gets faster and faster and days flash by without me even realizing. The weeks are short and the weekends even shorter and I feel like I miss something every time I blink. It's strange to think we have been here for a whole 6 months! It's also a little bit scary.

There have been some major developments in the last 2 months. Firstly we have acquired a dog. It was completely unintentional - Harry's cousin rescued her from being dumped in a field - a man in his village didn't want her anymore because he wanted to get a new dog. Its pretty common to find dogs abandoned in fields etc, as here dogs are more of a fashion accessory and not for life! Harry's cousin already has 3 dogs so he couldn't keep her. Harry had seen her but we had said we wouldn't take her. But after visiting their house I fell in love with her. She was so scared and frightened but she warmed to us pretty quickly. After much discussion we decided we had to take her. It was either us or the dog shelter, so we said to ourselves we would have her on a trial basis and if it didn't work out then she would have to go to the shelter. We were worried she wouldn't like us, wouldn't like living with us, in our home etc etc. Needless to say there is no way im giving her to the shelter now. We have had her around a month and a half and considering what she has been through, she is learning and adapting well. Obviously we had accidents in the house for the first week, but she picked up the concept of going to the bathroom outside pretty quickly. Considering she is young and was kept in a cage all her life she has adapted to her new surroundings (Harry says our flat must feel like a mansion to her) well. She is now part of the furniture. Literally. she has her own spot on the sofa, her own box of food and treats, shampoo in the bathroom and even her own towel. I think its safe to say she loves us. She likes to have a her paws rubbed, she never barks and if she thinks you have a treat your her best friend! Oh and her name is Millie, and as we dont know he exact age we have decided her birthday is the 1st July. Im sure she will appreciate all birthday cards and bones.

Secondly, and much to his excitement, Harry bagged himself a new job. Still with Adidas, he is now Visual Merchandiser for Adidas Cyprus - yes he is the visual merchandiser, for a whole country, for a global brand (although its a very small country!) He has been there 2 weeks now and its safe to say he is in his element. The perks of the job include worldwide discount, health club membership, laptop, company car, oh and an all expenses paid trip to Germany tomorrow, for one week, to visit the Adidas head office, and pick shoes from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection for Cyprus. Yes anyone who knows Harry will know that he has died and gone to heaven if it involves picking trainers! So its just me and the dog this week.

Last but not least I celebrated my birthday 2 weeks ago today. At the tender age of 23 im still the baby at work, but I feel a bit older and a little bit wiser (maybe). As usual I celebrated in a low key fashion. Birthday lunch at granny's with some yummy greek food, birthday dinner with Harry at my favourite place in the world, yes Wagamama, and some lovely pressies - a bonsai tree, body shop stuff, slippers (yes it may be Cyprus but marble floors are COLD) and obviously Harry spoiled me with a new digital camera. Last saturday me and the three girls from work Domi, Afrodite and Elena went to a really nice bar, Habana for belated birthday celebrations, Mojitos and food (our common bond is a passion for talking about, sharing and eating food). They even got me a gorgeous bag from topshop and a birthday cake with candles!!!! While I would have loved to have celebrated my birthday with all you lot back in England, it was a very special first Cypriot birthday.

So Harry's new job means we will soon have 4 wheels to go exploring and my new camera means I can snap away to my hearts content. While summer may be a little late arriving this year, which apparently im to blame for as im British, as soon as the sun hits and the weekend beach trips begin, i'l be boring you with pictures of sand, sea and sunsets and Millie's first swimming lesson's!
