a birthday

Birthday celebrations never seem to bother me any more. I remember when I was little birthdays were always such a huge thing and I always wondered why mum and dad never got as excited about their birthdays as I did mine. But as I get older I understand.

Here in Cyprus, 1st of May is a public holiday, which is nice since it means I am guaranteed a work free day for my birthday. But it also means everything is closed, limit options when it comes to birthday activities. So this year we opted for a lazy day which included a walk round Nicosia old town, coffee, a drive to Larnaca for a walk on the beach and dinner - my favourite - chinese.

Gifts included, some gorgeous fashion and interior design books, Ikea vouchers (my love for Ikea is widely known and ASOS vouchers.

While this years birthday has only just passed, I am already planning the next; the big 25! I have been longing to go to Barcelona for many years and as Harry has been numerous times, he would be an excellent guide. So I have already started saving for a big birthday trip for 2013. And if my information is correct, Greek Orthodox Easter falls after my birthday, in fact 2 days after. Which means by taking 1 holiday day we can have a 6 day holiday. What an excellent excuse for a birthday trip to Barcelona.

silence means we have been busy

It has been more than a month since I last updated you all about our shenanigans and I cant believe how quickly time has gone. I know I always say that but, honestly, as we get older the time seems to just disappear before our eyes. I remember sitting in school watching the hands on the clock move painfully slow. So now I know the older you are the quicker time goes. Anyway, this isn't really the point of this post.

Since you have to catch up on over a months worth of adventures over here on they sunshine [yes summer has hit - 33 degrees today - not sure I can last much longer without the air con] island, I will start a while back and work my way up to more recent events over the next few posts.

Back around easter time, Harry introduced me to a little heaven within the city, otherwise known as the park in Aglantzia. It is like our version of Bushy Park and when your wandering through the little paths and under the huge towering trees, I feel like im lost in a forest somewhere deep in the English countryside. Except the sun is beaming through the tree tops instead of little spots of rain.

And I think Millie loves it more than I do. We can take her there and let her off the lead and its so nice to see her running around like a crazy thing, shaking her bottom and wagging her tale, sniffing everything and absorbing all the new smells. Whenever we take her she tires herself out and will curl up on the sofa and start snoring. Ahhh to have the care free life of a dog.

Hope you all enjoyed your Jubilee celebrations. I joined in, making my tea this morning with the union jack teaspoons Dad gifted me with on my recent hop across to England. Today was a public holiday here also for other reasons, so tomorrow is the first dreaded day back to work after a long weekend. But I will continue the updates tomorrow night.

For now here's some pictures to make you jealous.
