.... it snowed in Nicosia! Something that hasn't occurred for many years (which obviously I am being blamed for since it snowed in England when we were they, everyone at work assumes I brought it with me).
It was quite strange, one minute the sky was blue and sunny, the next it was positively black and raining, and suddenly there was snow falling from the sky. And I dont mean one teeny tiny little flake. It was like heavy flurry's of snow that you'd expect more in London than Nicosia.
So while last week it was spring, this week we have gone back to winter and the temperatures have been freezing. Weather I have truly acclimatized to Cyprus, or whether it is the fact that houses made of marble might as well be made of ice since its freezing and impossible to warm up.
We also began our new apartment search. Our first viewings were a big fat flop however. It's sort of a problem when the agent forgets about your appointment, your left waiting for over half an hour, one apartment you can't see in the end because the landlord is out and the other one has been let 2 hours previously. I think the word i'm looking for is unprofessional. Needless to say we wont be calling that agent again. So we spent our Friday afternoon sitting in a car waiting and then went home. It was excellent. I did spend my Friday evening navigating an all Greek newspaper for apartment listings (unaided from Harry who had fallen asleep) and found many apartments, so once the international jet-setter Kakoullis returns on Wednesday from his work trip to Athens, we will resume our search.
I quite enjoy the whole apartment search though, it's quite fun and of course being nosey at other peoples apartments. But recently I have discovered multiple interior design blogs that I am hooked on; which is not so good since i think my expectations may be slightly unrealistic to numerous blogs of luxury interiors, something slightly out of our reach just yet.
And to top off a week of weird and stupid goings on, me and Millie nearly got ran over. A red light in Cyprus means very little to some people. There we were waiting for the green man; the lights were red and we started to cross the road and some idiot in a Jeep who was not paying attention just didn't stop meaning me and millie, who were half way across had to wait for this ignorant idiot. I consequently stood in the middle of the road shouting at him and then realized I was shouting myself and it was pointless.
So that was my week. Probably not the best. Lets hope this one is slightly better, although Harry is off to Athens for work at 5am tomorrow morning so i'm all by myself bridget jones style, without the wine, diary and calorie counting. At least I have this one to keep me company.
